My Girls - November 2012

Looking at this photo, you might think it is spring or summer but it is November!  I love those times when all of my family is together!  Thanksgiving was the reason for this gathering of the clan!  We just celebrated Heather and Alex's wedding reception the week before and we were so lucky to have more fun times together.  Melanie and Isabel do enjoy each other's company and I love to see them together.  

Perfect View

This is what I consider a perfect view!  These photos were taken from the balcony of our room in Pismo Beach and yes that seagull was that close!  We thought he wanted to come on in and enjoy a glass of wine! I think I need a magnifying glass, I know that is Ron waving from his balcony and I think that is Brenda Sharp behind him.  Where is Sharon hahah!

Shore Cliff Lodge in Pismo Beach is one of our favorite places to stay when we are in the area!  So relaxing, so pretty and the perfect jumping off spot for winery visits!  Looking forward to our next stay (which will be in the off season lol)

Papa's Girls

I was so thrilled to receive this photo of Roy and our granddaughters, Melanie and Isabel from Steve Sharp!  We were at Ron and Sharon's holiday party when Brenna called to let us know they were here from North Carolina!  We raced up to the house and brought Isabel back to party with the group.  The girls just love their Papa and he loves them so very much.

Day 26 part 2 Santa Cruz

Day 26 and I am continuing with page two of our Santa Cruz Mountain day trip.  We visited the Loma Prieta Winery.  This was such a drive up into the mountains, such a great view of the coast from up here.  Thank goodness that in the background in Roy's picture I could see the name of the winery!

A hidden jewel of a winery is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, David Bruce winery!  The boys scored a great deal of wine!  We then continued on to make a few more great discoveries.  It was a most enjoyable day,

What a nice time we had enjoying the grounds and the tasty wine!  This winery is in the Avila Beach area, just a hop ,skip and a jump to some of our favorite places.

It is January 23rd and this is my 23rd entry for the month!  I love the photo ops I find on our little trips!  But, most importantly is that I can get everyone to participate (for the most part)!  This is just an example of some of the things we do!  This is a great little winery up near Avila Beach, lovely grounds and just one of the cutest little winery dog on the property too!

Jenkins and Horacek's on the Go

November 2013 - furlough week and Thanksgiving Holiday!  We made the most of it....headed up to Oxnard for trip to one of our favorite wine cellars - Plan B...I will have to tell you the story of how we found that place and one of our new discoveries - Broken Earth in Paso Robles.  It is so much fun to discover new places for wine.   We all enjoy our trips to the many wineries in California......looking forward to discovering more!

The Mona Lisas in Cancun

Ok, it may seem a little cheesy to some but I just have so much fun taking photos in those cut-outs!  And of course, I have friends who are great sports!   I saw the Mona Lisa cut-out at the Italian restaurant and suggested we have our picture taken!!!  So, the start of our last dinner together in Cancun was hilarious!  I think Sharon did the best Mona Lisa look!!!  I love my friends, they like to make me happy!

You've Got to Have Friends!

Yes, it is so important to have friends in your life!   I have quite a few kits that I will be using during this yearly challenge!  This was a great layout theme!  FRIENDS!   Here we are enjoying one of our wine adventures this past November.  At Rancho Ventavo we even helped to decorate for the Christmas season!  Another great adventure with Ron and Sharon!!

November 10, 2012 - Heather and Alex's wedding day!!!  Our beautiful daughter and handsome husband starting off their live together - dream big and make things happen!    This paper and kit is from Quick Quotes, I think the color is perfect with the rocks of the desert.....a perfect day and a perfect couple!

This is the second page of last night's layout!  I attended a workshop last week presented by Shelby from Embellish It!  This is one of their kits.....I really like her product too and the classes she offers are great!  So, you will be seeing pages I create from her line, Quick Quotes and of course Close to My Heart!  

The photos of Roy and I were taken in Cancun, at this great little Italian restaurant (top photo) and the other is of us on the morning of Heather and Alex's wedding in Las Vegas - the Rio!!!  You will also be seeing layouts of that big event this year also!!

The Two of Us

So tonight, I thought I would create a page that is of Roy and me! This is the first page of a two-page layout.  One picture is from 2011, my birthday dinner and the other from 2013 (Mother's Day).  We have been married a long time, 35-years this past November, and we are still having fun! 

On Beach Time

We are on beach time!!!!   Like I said before, the water (pool or beach) was awesome!  I didn't actually have to get my hair wet and for those of you who know me......get it!!!   I promised Sharon that I would make sure that we were covered in the photo of both us....don't you just love our surfboard!   I wonder what Kathy is looking at in the pool?  LOL   This page is full of sweet summer memories and I'm looking forward to making more with Roy and our friends and family!

Cancun - Water Fun

Our summer vacation last year was outstanding!  What made me decide on this property were the pictures I saw of the pool and the beaches!  The top photo is of the view from our room, every room had a great view.  I asked a couple of teenagers to take our group photo in the pool.  The infinity pool, what a great place to just be at the edge and take in the view of the ocean.  The ocean, such a beautiful color and so clean.....I would most definitely return to the Westin in Cancun.

Tequila Time!

This is the second page of last night's layout.....it's Tequila Time!!  This tour was free, so it is always nice to take advantage of hotel perks!  When we were out shopping in other stores, I would look for the free samples of tequila (yes, they did do that......)  The tour seems a little corny but again, it was fun to do it with our friends!

Summer Fun 2013

Cancun - Summer Vacation July 2013!!  What a great trip we took with our friends the Carnines and Horaceks!  I posted this layout earlier on Facebook - I attended an all-day scrapbooking event today and wanted to make sure I posted my page just in case I didn't make it home by midnight!  And, I have made it home in time to update the blog!   11-days!!!

Here is the story behind this layout, we took a walking tour from our hotel, with a guide,  to a nearby mall to visit the Tequila Museum and enjoy some samplings of different tequilas!  And of course, you cannot go to a tourist spot without having a photo taken with a sombrero.

More of Friends!

Friday night!  The end of a long work week and I just finished the last page of Roy's birthday!  I used the Cricut cartridge from Close to My Heart - Artbooking to make the photo mats around the two photos on the left.  It was cute and lots of good ideas with the cartridge.  Can't wait to try more.  

Roy's party was a lot of fun, lots of laughs, lots of good food and good drink but most important lots of good friends and family in attendance!

See you Saturday, I am going to try to post early since I will be attending an all-day scrapbook event in Garden Grove.   I'm sure I will be sharing some examples from the classes I will be taking!!

Look at how cute all of these people are!!!  Some of uur friends from Roy's work and my office.  I love looking at all of their smiling faces!   It was a great evening, just don't ask Roy.....he doesn't remember much  LOL

For the Record!

It's Hump Day!  And the party story continues.....hang in there friends I believe I am almost finished with this event and will be moving on to another!  For the record, when Laura, Sharon and I decided to try a shot....surprise, surprise the bottles were empty!!   But, we did find one more and enjoyed our only shot of the evening!  The tall guy is Michael's good friend, Daniel.  I can say that I knew him when he was shorter than me!  If the photo is a little blurry, it's not the tequila but I selected the wrong one to post!  LOL!


As you can see, sometimes an easy layout is all you need to do to get your memories on a page.  I do love the "fancy" pages and will create those but I am getting a little anxious to move on to another theme. 

You've Got to Have Friends!!!

Hello Everyone!!!  I thought I would post this earlier in the evening, but I got involved watching a classic movie from the 60's - "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, World!"  

So, here is the page for tonight -  featuring more friends at Roy's party.  I changed the size from medium to small.  Here we have our oldest daughter with her good friends, Jamie - she has known her since their junior high days and their good friend, Brenda and her husband.  The other photo features her friends from her teaching days at the junior high - Ann and Sharyn!  I can't believe we have known Sharyn for at least 14-years and Ann went to school with my younger sister.  How special is it to have those long-time friends!

The Party Continues

It was great to have my good friends from work, my sister and Melissa at Roy's party!  You can always count on this group to bring the party feeling whenever we get together. This layout is one of my go-to's from the "Reflections" Scrapbook Program from Close to My Heart.  It is a quick way to put together a page!

More Party People!

It is Sunday afternoon, I have been to the office, out to lunch and finished my second page of "Party People!" Nice to have pictures of me and Heather.  Wouldn't you say that Brandon, Roy's friend, looks like he could be related to Michael?    I think I might have to add a few more embellishments to the photo, but I just don't know what.....if anyone has an idea, please let me know.

Party People

It was so much fun going through the photos of some of the guests at Roy's party.  I know we don't have all of them.  I think I was too busy at the beginning to take pictures!  This is just the start of the "Party People."  Melanie was a big help prior to the party, making dips, putting together the glasses.  We had such a great sampling of longtime friends (ours and the kids) and co-workers attending! 

Roy's 60th Birthday

For the next few days, my layouts will be of Roy's 60th birthday party.  Here it is 2014 and his party was in May 2011!  It was a great party and if you ask Roy, he doesn't remember too much of it.  It was an evening of great food, great drinks and great fun with our family and friends!

Birthday Dinner

Celebrating my birthday with our good friends, the Horaceks and Sharps.  First time for them to be eating in the kitchen!   They are all great sports, ready to go along with what we plan.

2014 Scrapbook Challenge

Well, it's January 1, 2014 and I have once again decided that I will make a commitment to scrapbooking a page a day and posting it on my blog.  The last time I attempted this, I was successful and it was great fun!  

I have so much to share and you will be supporting my efforts simply by reading and sharing a comment if you feel the urge.  I will be using mainly Close to My Heart products on my layouts.  I have been a Consultant with the company for almost seven years.  If you are interested in joining me on this quest or if you have any questions about products used, please contact me!

So, let's get started!  Because I always seem to re-organize my scrap studio every January 1st, I ran across photos from my birthday dinner this past November.  Roy made reservations for us and our good friends in the kitchen at Buca de Bepo.  If you have never been, guests actually walk through the kitchen and we are there to "greet" them.  The servers show us the food they are taking out to other patrons.  The restaurant has a photographer who takes the "official" photo of your restaurant experience.  This one is obviously me and Roy!
